‘How precious is time?’ NSW Central Coast singer songwriter LeAnne King
asked herself many times in the last few years.

It helped when she faced uncertain factors surrounding the truly ‘long awaited release’ of her
latest album ‘Make Time’. LeAnne’s recording project came together through sheer
determination, endless trips and infinite access to some of the best musicians in Sydney
and the Central Coast, coupled with the belief of dedicated producers.
But, mainly it was ‘time’ that proved the greater factor.
‘Time’ for songs to evolve, music to merge, time to expose the pure value
that only ‘time’ itself allows.

Aptly named ‘Make Time’, this second album took four years in the making. An emotive journey
for the ‘lyrist’ she once described herself as, she now says ‘I am at a stage in my life that I realise
the time is slipping away and you have to tell the people what you feel before it’s too late.’
‘It’s about how we should stop for the seconds it sometimes takes to listen
to someone instead of rushing off’ she added.

A complete work of self penned tracks, inclusive of a co-write with the very gifted Catherine Britt,
track 8 All I’ve Got To Show, the release is a finely produced co-ordination of work from three
studios. A capably completed project sharing mutual passion, the final album production rested
with Rob Wilson and King herself, she says of Wilson ‘you are truly the country music man!
Thanks for making it so easy.’

Five of the tracks are superbly mixed by producer and engineer guitar virtuoso Martin Hailey
(Human Nature, David Campbell, Jimmy Little) at Audioscapes Studio Newtown and mastered by
William Bowden at King Willy Sound Sydney; Tracks 7 Can’t Keep A Good Man Down and 12
the title track Make Time, produced engineered and mixed by audio post production specialist John
Roy at John Roy’s Studio; Tracks 3 Little Cowboy, 4 Nearly Said No and 5 I Will Not Let You
Down, by Rob Wilson at Longhorn Studios Kurri Kurri.

A collection of session musicians includes names like Brad Bergen, Mick Albeck, Michel Rose, Clare
O’Meara, Scott Morris, Jon Howell, Tim Curnick, Kevin Hailey and Clayton Doley; with backing
vocalists Katie King and Scott Morris and contributions from all three engineers Roy piano and
programming, Wilson backing vocals, acoustic guitar, bass, and the multi talented Hailey, backing
vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin, dobro, lap steel, percussion, and electric 12 string
guitar on tracks 11 A Minute To Be Mine and 9 I Was You, and programming on track 11.

The greatest surprise for King though is the news on Friday, that four of the 12 songs, Track 1 Put
Your Hand In Mine, 4 Nearly Said No, 10 My Greatest Work, 12 Make Time have been pitched in
Nashville to artists Faith Hill, LeAnne Rimes, and Martina McBride.
LeAnne easily admits her first and foremost calling is that of a songwriter, quietly gaining recognition
in the last couple of years with a song submitted in a special presentation to the Dixie Chicks and by others
being looked at by Nashville publishers for such high profile artists as
Brad Paisley, Reba McIntyre and Sara Evans amongst others.

A student of Professor Pat Pattison Berklee College of Music, the songtress has studied lyric
writing and music composition at several Australian songwriter courses and one at the famous
Grove Studios at Peats Ridge. She says of Professor Pattison ‘the man is a genius and he just
shows you what works and why without changing the intrinsic nature of how to write as an individual.’
‘He had Steve Seskin with him, who writes for Tim McGraw amongst others, and he was a great
guy and really helpful. I had a private songwriting session with him that blew me away! Can’t
wait to do more when he returns to Aus’.

Pat Pattinson has written over 30 articles for Home & Studio Recording Magazine, and The Performing Songwriter and a
variety of industry publications and continues to present songwriting clinics across the globe. His internationally successful
students include Grammy winners John Mayer, Gillian Welch and Rob Hotchkiss (Train).
He conducts songwriting workshops internationally and in the US.
